Template:Battle The Siege of Lindblum proved to be the chief battle for domination of the Mist Continent. With Burmecia and Cleyra both defeated, and their jewels obtained, Lindblum was the last remaining power on the Mist Continent that stood against Brahne's all-conquering Alexandria.

Despite Lindblum's huge resource count and large airship fleet and army, which completely eclipsed that of Alexandria's, they had little effect on this conflict. Queen Brahne's Black Mage army were teleported directly into the castle and the city, and immediatly started destroying everything they could see. To finish Lindblum off for good, Brahne summoned the Eidolon Atomos, stolen from Garnet. The eidolon rose from the ocean and began its attack, completely destroying the Industrial District as well as sucking up countless people and Black Mages indiscriminatly, and also did considerable damage to Lindblum Castle.

During the chaos, the white flags were drawn from the castle signalling Lindblum's surrender, which caused Brahne to draw Atomos back, ceasing its attack.

Brahne had given Cid two conditions for the surrender. She demanded the Falcon's Claw as well as the Hilda Garde II. With Lindblum about to be obliterated from existance, Cid was forced to comply, and the Alexandrian army and fleet moved in and officially occupied the now devestated city. However, the know-how, stubborn and proud denizens of Lindblum did not offer the occupying Alexandrians any quarter, and many actively foiled their plans (the weapons store keeper raised all the prices for them), while continuing to give aid to Zidane and Princess Garnet, who left Lindblum to travel to the Outer Continent in order to find information on Brahne's weapons supplier Kuja.

Aftermath

While not much of a battle, in that Alexandria won control in very little time, the casualty count was huge for both nations. Atomos not only decimated the Industrial District (killing countless soldiers and civilians), but absorbed both Lindblum and Black Mage Soldiers. It is highly likely that Lindblum rebels, most likely civilians and remaining soldiers, continued to wage war even after Alexandria had taken control.
