Concept artwork for Final Fantasy.
The Basilisk (バシリスク, Bashirisuku? or バジリスク, Bajirisuku?), also known as SAURIA, Geckorex, or Bagrisk, is recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series, first appearing in the original Final Fantasy. It most frequently appears as a giant horned lizard with bulging eyes that greatly resembles chameleons, though serpents or even bird-like forms are not unheard of. Its common threat is its ability to Petrify characters using its stare, although there are often times when this status is its biggest weakness. The petrification is often gradual, but in some games it happens instantly.
