FFXI Dagger 13

Baselard in Final Fantasy XI.

Baselard (バゼラード, Bazerādo?) is a recurring weapon in the series. It is commonly a low-ranked Dagger.

Appearances Edit

Final Fantasy III Edit

While not appearing physically or having any statistics inside the data, there is a text string of Baselard suggesting that at one point during development that this weapon was planned to appear in the 3D remake as a dagger.

Final Fantasy XI Edit

Baselard is a dagger that provides 8 damage and 186 delay. It deals 2.58 damage per second and accumulates 51 TP per hit. It can be equipped by level 18 Warrior, Black Mage, Red Mage, Thief, Paladin, Bard, Ninja, Scholar, Geomancer.

It can be bought for 4,309 - 4,979 gil from Ashene in Southern San d'Oria (K-7). It can also be bought for 80 Sparks of Eminence from Isakoth in Bastok Markets (E-11), Rolandienne in Southern San d'Oria (G-10), Fhelm Jobeizat in Windurst Woods (J-10), and Eternal Flame in Western Adoulin (H-11).

Final Fantasy XIV Edit

Baselards were weapons available to Gladiators and Paladins prior to patch 2.3. In 2.3, all Baselards were renamed and given new models as Broadswords, as Baselards were considered daggers which were soon to be associated with Rogues and Ninjas, new jobs introduced in patch 2.4.

The affected weapons were renamed as follows:

  • Baselard → Steel Broadsword
  • Aetherial Baselard → Aetherial Steel Broadsword
  • Lominsan Baselard → Lominsan Broadsword

New Baselards were subsequently introduced as Rogue and Ninja weapons starting in patch 2.4. The most powerful Baselards currently are the Gordian Baselards, which can be acquired as a drop from the Manipulator in Alexander - The Burden of the Father (Savage) or traded for using tokens acquired from the same raid.
