While not appearing physically or having any statistics inside the data, there is a text string of Baselard suggesting that at one point during development that this weapon was planned to appear in the 3D remake as a dagger.

It can be bought for 4,309 - 4,979 gil from Ashene in Southern San d'Oria (K-7). It can also be bought for 80 Sparks of Eminence from Isakoth in Bastok Markets (E-11), Rolandienne in Southern San d'Oria (G-10), Fhelm Jobeizat in Windurst Woods (J-10), and Eternal Flame in Western Adoulin (H-11).

The Baselard was a weapon for
Gladiators. In patch 2.3, it had its model changed and was renamed to the Steel Broadsword as part of a mass replacement of dagger-like
Gladiator's Arms to accomodate the introduction of the dagger-wielding
Rogues and
Ninjas, new disciplines introduced in patch 2.4.
