Eorzea was destroyed by a force of unimaginable power raining down from the sky. It is the dawn of a new age!
The following is a list of Bard Quests from Final Fantasy XIV version 1.0.
A Song of Bards and Bowmen[]
- Journal
- At the Quiver's Hold, Georjeaux informs you that the legendary archer-turned-bard, Jehantel the Godsbow, has recently returned to the Twelveswood. Aspiring to transcendent mastery of the bow, several members of the Gods' Quiver have presented themselves as pupils to the legend. Alas, all have returned disappointed, as Jehantel offers only to teach poetry and verse. If you would learn from the man nonetheless, make your way north of Camp Tranquil, where he is said to have made his camp.
※ Up to three party members may accompany you. (Recommended)
- Having exchanged pleasantries with Jehantel, you astonish the kindly old bard by taking him up on his offer to teach you poetry and verse. He excitedly instructs you to present yourself to a moogle named Pukno Poki, who resides within a cave situated east of Camp Tranquil.
- Speaking with Pukno Poki, the moogle prevails upon you to recover a stolen charm that was meant for Jehantel. The thief, a Qiqirn shirrer, was last seen fleeing to the east of Camp Tranquil.
※ Up to three party members may accompany you. (Recommended)
- You have put down the Qiqirn shirrer and reclaimed Pukno Poki's stolen charm. See that the object is delivered to Jehantel, who awaits north of Camp Tranquil.
※ The next bard quest will be available from Jehantel upon reaching level 35.
The Archer's Anthem[]
- Journal
- You listen in bewilderment as Jehantel relates to you the origin of the bardic tradition. Apparently, bards were born when archers burst into song in order to cope with the stresses of battle. To drive the lesson home, Jehantel requires that you confront a lone jackal known as Bardi, who prowls the Nanawa Mines north of Ul'dah. In facing this foe in mortal combat and understanding what drives it, a new melody will surely reveal itself to you.
※ It is recommended that three party members accompany you.
※ The next bard quest will be available from Jehantel upon reaching level 40.
Bard's-eye View[]
- Journal
- You listen intently as Jehantel reveals that common bards also owe their existence to archers. According to him, the coming of peacetime left soldiers jobless, and many of those who had once bent the bow took to strumming the harp. Jehantel then offers to perform for you the Ballad of the Vainglorious Fool, but only if you first convince him that the lesson will not be lost upon you. Make your way to the Central Shroud and defeat the boar called Phaia, thereby proving your readiness.
※ It is recommended that three party members accompany you.
※ The next bard quest will be available from Jehantel upon reaching level 45.
Doing It the Bard Way[]
- Journal
- Jehantel sings for you the Ballad of the Vainglorious Fool, which depicts the events of the Massacre of Griffin Crossing, where an entire regiment of the Gods' Quiver was annihilated by the Ixal. Desiring that you demonstrate the fruits of your learning with bow in hand, Jehantel asks that you escort him to a place north of Hyrstmill.
※ Up to seven party members may accompany you. (Recommended)
- En route to your destination, Jehantel spots an Ixali van, and a battle ensues. The erstwhile archer swiftly primes his bow, but inexplicably cannot bring himself to fire. You have no choice but to repel the enemy without his aid.
※ Up to seven party members may accompany you. (Recommended)
※ The next bard quest is now available from Jehantel.
Pieces of the Past[]
- Journal
- Jehantel declares you worthy of the choral attire, which he received from Pukno Poki when first they met in the Twelveswood. Having lost the will to live, however, Jehantel scattered the garments across the land, going to great pains to ensure that he would never see them again. The choral attire is yours, if you can but brave the perils of the following locations and retrieve them:
- Cutter's Cry, west of Camp Bluefog in northern Thanalan.
- Zahar'ak, east of Camp Broken Water in southern Thanalan.
- Turning Leaf, south of Camp Crimson Bark in the West Shroud.
- A cave south of Camp Iron Lake in upper La Noscea.
※ The next bard quest will be available from Jehantel upon reaching level 50.
Requiem for the Fallen[]
- Journal
- After long years, Jehantel has finally mustered the courage to confront his inner demons, and bids you accompany him on a pilgrimage to the scene of his regiment's demise. Your destination is where the Griffin Crossing meets the central highlands of Coerthas. Once there, Jehantel intends to honor his fallen comrades with song, that their tormented souls might be laid to rest.
※ Up to seven party members may accompany you. (Recommended)
- Just as you arrive at your destination, an Ixali war band appears. After a fierce struggle, your party emerges victorious. With the area now secure, Jehantel may sing to his heart's content.
