Final Fantasy Wiki

Auto-Life is a status in Final Fantasy X exclusive to player characters. If a currently-alive party member is bestowed with Auto-Life, they will automatically be revived from KO when their HP reaches 0. The target will be revived with 25% of their max HP and the status will wear off. This status cannot be removed by Dispel, though some enemy abilities will override the status. All enemies and aeons are immune to it. Those affected by Auto-Life have a halo above their battle model. The status reviving someone has the same animation as Life spell.

In the cinematic final battle, the party has a permanent Auto-Life status, and its effects are animated differently: it begins with a little mermaid-like sprite descending to the fallen character.

Mechanics[]

The HP recovered from Auto-Life starts at 25% max HP, and can be boosted by equipping the caster with a weapon that has the ability Magic Booster. The Magic Plus % abilities on the caster's weapon can further increase the HP recovery. In the best case scenario (the recipient has a max HP of 99,999 and an equipped weapon with Break Damage Limit, Magic +5%, Magic +10% and Magic +20%) the resultant HP recovery from Auto-Life will be:

The actual amount will be 50,622 because the game truncates decimals each time the max HP figure is multiplied by the percentage. With Auto-Shell and Auto-Protect on armor, it is even possible to survive Penance's Mega-Graviton (damage equal to 75% of max HP) used by the Left Arm, and attack by the Right Arm respectively after being revived from Judgment Day.

Auto-Life can be used to revive characters normally even if they contract Zombie.

Abilities[]

Ability Hyper Mighty G (Mix)
Spell Auto-Life (Wht Mag)

Enemy abilities[]

Enemies do not have access to abilities that inflict Auto-Life, and also cannot become affected by the status.

Removal[]

Dispel does not remove Auto-Life, though several bosses can remove the status from characters: Th'uban, an optional boss in the Monster Arena; most of the Dark Aeons; and the Left Arm of Penance.

The enemy abilities that remove the player's Auto-Life are: Aerospark (Dark Ixion), Condemn, Delta Attack (Dark Cindy), Giga-Graviton, Razzia (Dark Sandy), and Zanmato (Dark Yojimbo).

Use[]

Auto-Life is a lategame ability that comes to use against some of the toughest enemies, bosses, and Monster Arena creations. However, the superbosses tend to have means of ignoring the party's Auto-Life and killing them regardless. Auto-Life is good to have against Nemesis.

An alternative/addition to Auto-Life is Auto-Phoenix, which will auto-revive an ally.
