Haste activates automatically in battle.
Description
Auto-Haste is a support ability that gives a permanent Haste buff in battle, quickening the rate the character's ATB gauge fills by 50%.
Obtained[]
Auto-Haste is learned by the Guardian Force Cerberus for 150 AP after mastering Spd+40%, which becomes available after mastering Spd+20%. The player can instantly master these abilities with Jet Engine and Rocket Engine. Cerberus is recruited by defeating him as an optional boss during the Battle of the Gardens, or by drawing him from Gargantua in the final dungeon.
Auto-Haste is taught to any GF with the Accelerator item, modded from Kiros's card obtained as part of the Queen of Cards quest, and made from 100 Lightweights with Eden's GFAbl Med-RF ability. Lightweights are obtained from Cerberus's card and from Cactuars and Vysages.
Mechanics[]
Auto-Haste gives the user permanent Haste status that cannot be dispelled and remains in effect even if the character was KO'd and revived. Visually Haste is shown with a cherry red ATB bar. Haste makes the character's ATB fill 50% faster, makes their expirable statuses run out faster, and makes the character immune to Slow.
Use[]
Auto-Haste is an excellent support ability to have equipped at all times to get the first turn faster and act more frequently in general. It is better than Initiative if the player does not want to equip both. It is great in all battles, but especially shines in tough battles that take several rounds, such as against Ultima Weapon where the player is expected to be reviving a lot, making all other sources of Haste impractical.
The player can get five Auto-Hastes without item farming if they are doing all sidequests: one Auto-Haste learned by Cerberus, three Accelerators from Kiros's card, and 100 Lightweights from Cerberus's card turned into one Accelerator. However, the player can also simply use the spell Haste and Quistis's Mighty Guard. The benefit of Auto-Haste is that it does not take a turn to apply and cannot be dispelled and does not run out.
Auto-Haste is especially good on Rinoa for her Angel Wing. Auto-Haste could be a detriment if the character gets doomed or gradually petrified, but these are rare statuses used by select few enemies.
