Auspice is an Enhancing Magic spell in Final Fantasy XI. It is available at level 55.
When cast, it has several effects. For all creatures nearby the White Mage, it will grant a Light damage bonus to attacks. This means that for weapons that have more than one attack, or abilities that grant more than one attack, the damage only effects the first attack. It will also increase player Accuracy following a missed attack. Lastly, attacks effected by Auspice generate fewer Tactical Points for the enemy.
Etymology[]
The word auspice comes from the Latin term auspicio, "to take the auspice". Roman fortune tellers, called Augurs, would watch the pattern of bird flight and read into it a meaning. This practice, taking the auspices, is also the root word for the English word "auspicious," something symbolic that hints towards future favor.
