Aubrenard is a non-playable character from Final Fantasy XIV. He is a bard of great reputation who appears during the Leatherworker questline in the Heavensward expansion.
History[]
Once a resident of the Brume, Aubrenard became a bard and started making donations to help feed the children in his former home. While looking for a pair of boots to buy, Aubrenard sees a pair of wyvernskin workboots that the Warrior of Light had just crafted in Elde's shop. Aubrenard says that the story of "a Gridanian master coming to save the feet of Ishgard" may have given him inspiration, and orders a pair of boots.[1]
Aubrenard's publicity yielded profits for Elde's store. Due to the lack of materials preventing them from manufacturing the boots, Elde produced a new item. She asked the Warrior of Light to deliver a sample for Aubrenard to advertise her workshop again. Aubrenard, who had been very impressed with the boots, agreed to advertise the workshop. Fingering his lyre, Aubrenard drew a crowd and gives a speech about the quality and designer of the new product.[2]
Seeking one last favor, Elde made an anonymous donation to the needy in the Brume. In return she asked Aubrenard to compose an original ode inspired by the merchant Gerhardt. Aubrenard accepted the request and ensured that the donation reached Gerraldieux's hands.[3]

Behind the scenes[]
Aubrenard shares his name with a NPC from version 1.0. Aubrenard the Verbose was a Wildwood Elezen merchant located around the Ebony Stalls in Gridania (7, 4). "Aubrenard" is also a potential randomly generated surname for Wildwood Elezen player characters.
