Template:IVTAY Enemy Astaroth is a boss in Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. It is fought on the 9th floor of the Depths of the True Moon.
Battle
Astaroth's main threat is its magic, but it also has a weak physical attack which drains HP and heals its own. Its magic abilities are Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, Death, Flare and Embrace, all of which can be reflected.
Strategy
Cecil, Rydia, Rosa, Kain, Edge, or Yang, Golbez, Ceodore, Ursula, and Leonora should be around level 50, preferably higher.
Compared to the other bosses on this floor, Astaroth is fairly easy as long as the player has party members who can cast Reflect, or can use items to grant themselves Reflect. With Reflect up Astaroth's primary offense is crippled, leaving the player free to whittle down its HP.
Etymology
Astaroth in demonology is a prince of Hell. In art, specifically in the Dictionnaire Infernal, Astaroth is depicted as a nude man with dragon-like wings, hands, and feet, a second pair of feathered wings after the main, wearing a crown, holding a serpent in one hand, and riding a wolf or dog.
Trivia
- In Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection, Astaroth's sprite is that of Lucifer, its Soul of Rebirth counterpart, instead of Astaroth itself.
