Troopers belonging to Shinra's Public Security Division who have been outfitted with Advanced Weaponry's latest in magically enhanced armor. They possess a number of mako-infused weapons which they use to eliminate intruders.
Enemy Intel
Armored Magitrooper is an enemy in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, in the "Episode INTERmission" DLC. They are magically enhanced members of Shinra Public Security Forces, outfitted in protective armor whose core Yuffie may be able to nab. They are fought in Shinra Building's Advanced Weaponry's maintenance facility in "The Scent of Materia" of Chapter 2, "Covert Ops".
Armored Magitroopers are immune to magical damage. It is actually two enemies in one, as when in low health, the trooper uses Eject, self-destructs the armor, and hops out as an Enhanced Magitrooper, a faster enemy that is less durable but can deal fair damage.
Stats[]
Being a DLC-exclusive enemy, the stats are not listed in the official guide book, and thus are unknown.
Battle[]
The Armored Magitrooper is a variation of the Armored Shock Trooper, and is among the strongest type of Shinra Public Security troops, being fully armored and equipped with two laser cannons, capable of attacking from virtually any range. The armor limits his movements, and he walks slowly towards his targets. However, unlike its counterpart, the Armored Magitrooper is slightly more mobile, capable of using jet propulsion to engage and disengage of combat to reposition. He boasts high HP and attack power, and is immune to magical attacks. None of his attacks can be interrupted.
He attacks with powerful laser-type abilities, such as shooting focused beams from the suit's right arm. He can also use Ballistic Beams, which launches a salvo of homing lasers from the suit's left arm. If the player stands too close in melee range, the Armored Magitrooper will use EM Field, expanding a static shock in a radius.
Once he uses Core Overdrive, the armor's chest will emit a red glow, and its core will be targetable. After a few moments, the Armored Magitrooper will charge up and release Pulse Laser, a devastating wide beam attack, which cannot be blocked. After that, the core will cool down, no longer being targetable.
Once half of his HP is depleted, he'll use the Eject ability, dealing massive area-of-effect damage, and revealing the pilot inside the suit of armor: the Enhanced Magitrooper (this will not happen when fought in the VR combat arena).
Unlike the vast majority of mechanical-type enemies, the Armored Magitrooper is not weak against Lightning, since he is immune to magic.
Strategy[]
Yuffie and Sonon should equip weapons with high physical damage, as magic is useless against the Armored Magitrooper. Using melee attacks, as well Ninja Cannonball, until both Yuffie and Sonon have the ATB to use Synergized Art of War, works well. Most of the Armored Magitrooper's attacks can be blocked, save for for EM Field and Pulse Laser. Yuffie can use Brumal Form during Ballistic Beams; its focused beam and Pulse Laser can be easily avoided by running to the sides and dodge-rolling.
Once the Armored Magitrooper uses Core Override, its core can be attacked. Yuffie can steal it using Steal or Mug, making the trooper unable to use Pulse Laser and instantly pressuring him, leaving him susceptible to staggering. The item the player gets is Armor Core, a consumable that casts Manaward.
When the trooper uses Eject, he self-destructs the armor and hops out as an Enhanced Magitrooper, a faster enemy that is less durable but can deal fair damage. Defeating the Armored Magitrooper before he uses Eject allows the player skip fighting the enhanced version.
Hard Mode[]
On the hard difficulty, the Armored Magitrooper will be more aggressive and use his abilities more often, most notably Ballistic Beams.
