Arcanist specializes in destructive Arcane Magick with abilities learned from rods. Arcanists have a large base MP pool, useful for their advanced spell portfolios. Their other stats are low, so it might not be a good idea to level up as one. They have very low HP and low Evasion, though with the Drain and Halve MP abilities, an Arcanist can heal with every attack and essentially never die, unless hit by a Death effect or a very powerful attack.
Perhaps the most obvious tactic would be giving all units, or just the Arcanist, equipment that nullifies or absorbs Darkness, making the Arcanist function like a Scholar. The Arcanist can then heal himself and his allies with the skill Lv. ? Shadow Flare.
Fire, ice, and lightning have no place among the magicks of the ARCANIST.
