Description
The Antidote is a status healing item in Final Fantasy IX used to remove Poison and Venom, status abnormalities that make the target lose health passively. It is a common treasure in Chocobo Hot and Cold. It can also be used in synthesis late into the game to make Sapphires.
The Antidote item is effectively the same as the Panacea spell, also having the same battle animation.
Obtain[]
Antidotes are sold in shops for 50 gil apiece. They are also a common find while playing Chocobo Hot and Cold; if the player partakes in this quest, they likely never need to buy any Antidotes. There is also one Antidote to pick up in the Dali inn 
.
Uncultivated Land chocograph.
The player can find ten Antidotes in the Uncultivated Land chocograph. After the player has Blue Narciss, they can progress in Chocobo Hot and Cold until Choco can cross mountains and reach the treasure in the world map area near to where Evil Forest used to be.
Antidotes can drop from Chimera and Stilva, and can also be stolen from Amdusias (A), Crawler, Drakan, Mimic, Sand Scorpion, Serpion, Torama, Whale Zombie, and Worm Hydra.
Use[]
Antidotes are used to remove Poison and Venom statuses. This may be useful in the battles against Sand Scorpion, Serpion, Grand Dragon, Agares, Amdusias, Drakan, Meltigemini, Ring Leader, Torama, Malboro, Ralvurahva, Mimic, Tantarian, Chimera, Whale Zombie, Worm Hydra, Lich, Lich (Crystal), and Meltigemini. The superbosses' attacks may also give Poison, but the player is better off using support abilities to avoid contracting status abnormalities in these instances rather than heal them mid-battle.
An Antidote can be used in synthesis with an Ore to produce an Sapphire.
