An emissary from a magical world. The Whisper moves like a shadow, casts Emi, and for some reason, this foe's HP gradually decreases during the battle.

Final Fantasy VI PlayStation Bestiary entry

The Angel Whisper (or Whisper in the SNES version), is an enemy in Final Fantasy VI.

Stats

Battle

It has inherent Sap status, which was supposed to restore HP due to it being undead, but due to a glitch it slowly saps its HP every turn. Its major threat is Gravity, which it uses frequently to halve a party member's HP. Angel Whispers like to attack in packs.

Angel Whisper's Impmare attack was meant to inflict Imp, but it never uses it, making it a dummied feature.

Strategy

Sabin's Rising Phoenix is an effective strategy for dealing with them. Otherwise, normal physical attacks should be enough.

Etymology

An angel is a non-physical entity or spirit found in various religions and mythologies. In Abrahamic religions and Zoroastrianism, angels are often depicted as benevolent celestial beings who act as intermediaries between God or Heaven and Earth, or as guardian spirits or a guiding influence. Other roles of angels include protecting and guiding human beings, and carrying out God's tasks. The term "angel" has also been expanded to various notions of spirits found in many other religious traditions. In art, angels are often depicted with bird-like wings on their back, a halo, robes and various forms of glowing light.
