Anak Stag is an enemy in Final Fantasy XV fought in northern Leide, northeast from the Prairie Outpost and northwest from the Formouth Garrison. It appears among others of its ilk. It is the largest anak-type enemy, easily recognized by its large antlers.
A Lv.21 anak stag also appears in the Leide League and All-Star Monster Mayhem of the Totomostro. Its team name is Leide Antlers.
Bestiary[]
- A long-necked herbivore living in Leide. During mating season, the male can be seen showing off its antlers to the females and threatening other males with them. Biologists note this intimidating display is quite anomalous for a creature known for its otherwise gentle disposition.

Battle[]
Anak stag appears among the regular anaks and the anak calves during the daytime. It is weak to greatswords, polearms and lightning and resists ice and light. The stag fights by sweeping its long neck around and by springing onto its hindlegs to stomp on those in front of it. Its antlers can be broken off for additional drops.
Strategy[]
Throwing lightning elemancy at the herd of anaks is a good way to start the battle off, damaging them all at once. The player can lock onto the head and warp-strike from afar to hopefully break off the antlers. Getting behind the stag and blindside-striking deals increased damage and stays away from its powerful antlers and front hooves. It will try to leap away when attacked in this manner.

Etymology[]
Anak is a figure in the Hebrew Bible in the conquest of Canaan by the Israelites who, according to the Book of Numbers, was a forefather of the Anakim who have been considered "strong and tall", they were also said to have been a mixed race of giant people, descendants of the Nephilim.
