Battle[]

Anak-Battle-FFXV

Anak in battle.

Anak are weak to polearms, greatswords, and lightning, and resist ice and light. Their horns can be broken. Their bodies and head can be attacked, but the head is out of reach of normal melee attacks most of the time. They rise to their hind legs to charge at targets in front of them, and sweep their long necks left and right to hit targets in a wide area. They can run and make long leaps, especially when trying to get away from being attacked on their backsides. When they topple over, they become vulnerable until they can get back up. This sometimes initiates a cross chain opportunity after the player has obtained the Axe of the Conqueror.

Strategy[]

The player can warp-strike the head. Learning airdancing abilities in the Ascension improves Noctis's airborne battle abilities. Warp-striking the body sometimes topples them and makes them vulnerable. The player can get behind them and attack to trigger blindside attacks and blindside links, and to stay out of the range of their antlers.

Etymology[]

Anak is a figure in the Hebrew Bible in the conquest of Canaan by the Israelites who, according to the Book of Numbers, was a forefather of the Anakim who have been considered "strong and tall", they were also said to have been a mixed race of giant people, descendants of the Nephilim.
