The Amphisbaena is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII. It is first encountered in the Archylte Steppe, where several can be found flying around, eventually hovering above the player once it spots the party. Numerous Amphisbaena can also be found in The Cloven Spire after defeating Dahaka, as well as a single one in The Palisades.

Battle[]
Amphisbaena fights similarly to the Wyvern. Its acid attack can inflict Deprotect and Debrave on a party member, which is followed up by Feeding Stoop.
Strategy[]
The Amphisbaena can be easily defeated by following a Delta Attack (COM/RAV/SEN) and Mystic Tower (RAV/RAV/SEN) combinations, switching to Solidarity (COM/MED/SEN) or Combat Clinic (MED/MED/SEN) to heal or dispel status ailments. The key is to never have the primary attackers afflicted with the ailments before Staggering it. A Sentinel will help, as Amphisbaena's Feeding Stoop ability can inflict severe damage to unprotected characters. Once staggered, the Amphisbaena does not last long, especially since its actions can be halted.
