Let us see what you are made of!Amon/Moonring Blade
While he resembles Hein, he is not very strong and focuses on physical attacks, usually attacking with magic every two turns. Keep on healing with a Devout and attacking with everyone else (a Magus should use his best spells to cause as much damage as possible) and eventually this enemy will go down, awarding the Moonring Blade weapon picked up before the fight. It is recommended to avoid using Drain or any Lilith's Kiss items after a Barrier Shift, as it may reverse the effects of the spell or item and end up killing the user instead of healing them.
Amon appears in the Syrcus Tower raid. His concept art is closer in color scheme to Hein. His backstory is expanded to explain that he was Xande's top technomancer, responsible for many of the tower's mechanical creations and traps, filling a role similar to Dr. Lugae. Amon is also responsible for the clones of Doga and Unei and Xande's perceived immortality.
Amon uses Barrier Shift to change his elemental resistance randomly between fire, ice, and lightning, so attack with abilities like Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder when the time is right, kupo! He's not resistant to Slow, so that can come in handy too! To withstand the powerful spells he casts, bring someone who can cast buffs like Shell! He's resistant to break debuffs, so abilities like Armor Break won't be very effective, kupo!Dr. Mog's Advice.
Amon is fought as a boss in the Eureka, Part 2 Core Dungeon, as well as in some Final Fantasy III events. He will periodically cast Firaga, Thundaga, and Blizzaga on the party, and can change his elemental affinity, variably being weak to fire, lightning, or ice. Amon's elemental magic of the same element will be stronger depending on his weakness. He is immune to all statuses but Slow.
Amon can be fought as a boss in the Chamber of the Indignant. Completing the trial 'Scorn of Gilgamesh' is required before you can face him. Every turn he inflicts the Zombie status ailment upon the entire party. This causes his healing spells to deal massive damage to the whole party, and is only stopped by reflection spells or the Reflect Ring accessory, which will reflect his healing magic back at him. While this may heal him, the amount healed is negligible. Alternatively, Zombie can be cured, but due to the boss inflicting it every turn this strategy isn't often used. Every few turns he imperils himself to the Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth elements, which leaves him open to attack; otherwise he has 300% resistance to all elements. He casts powerful magic, such as Ultima and Meteor, at lower health. Defeating him rewards the player with the materias Beast Killer+ and Avian Eater Magic.
