Amon (アモン, Amon?), also known as Marquis Amon or Amon the Undying, is a recurring boss in Final Fantasy series. He is usually depicted as a flamboyantly dressed, skull-faced mage.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy III[]
Amon is an optional boss encountered in Eureka, guarding the Moonring Blade. He can change his elemental weakness with Barrier Shift.
Final Fantasy XI[]
Marquis Amon (マークゥスアモン, Mākūsu Amon?) is the demon responsible for corrupting Zeid, driving him to become the serial killer known as "Darksteel Hurricane" to exact vengeance against those he blamed for the deaths of his all-Galka squad in a suicide mission. When Klara Bester, captain of the Mythril Musketeers who had been investigating the murders, discovered Amon's involvement, she freed Zeid from his influence but was unknowingly possessed by him in turn.
Amon is fought as a notorious monster in the quest "Bonds of Mythril", as Zeid discovers Amon had been using Klara to betray Bastok in the Crystal War. After the adventurer and Zeid defeat Klara, Zeid forces Amon from her body, allowing the adventurer to finally defeat him.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
Amon (異才のアモン, Isai no Amon?, lit. Amon the Prodigy) is a technologist of the Allagan Empire. He was a driving force behind the Empire's revival in the later days of the Third Astral Era. Realizing the Empire was lacking in leadership, his research allowed him to resurrect Allag's legendary emperor Xande to bring the Empire to a new age of prosperity. While serving the revived Xande, Amon was approached by the Ascian Emet-Selch, who revealed to Amon that he was himself the reincarnation of the Ascian Fandaniel, and recruited him to the Ascians' cause. Fandaniel would leave behind a clone of himself to serve as "Amon" in his stead.
As the Fourth Umbral Calamity destroyed Allag, the Amon clone would freeze himself, along with Xande and his retinue, in suspended animation within the Crystal Tower as it sank beneath the earth. When the Tower would later be unearthed following the Seventh Umbral Calamity, Amon and the others would reawaken and continue with Xande's plan to summon a host of voidsent from a voidgate at the Tower's pinnacle. The Amon clone is fought as the third boss of Syrcus Tower as the Warrior of Light would seek to foil Xande's plan.
Following Fandaniel's later death at the hands of the Warrior of Light, his soul would descend into the Aetherial Sea. When the Warrior of Light again encounters him there, he takes the guise of Amon the Undying (異執のアモン, Ito no Amon?), stating that "Amon" was the favorite of his many identities. Amon the Undying serves as the final boss of The Aitiascope.
Final Fantasy Record Keeper[]
Final Fantasy III's Amon is fought as a boss in the Eureka, Part 2 Core Dungeon, as well as in some Final Fantasy III events. He will periodically cast Firaga, Thundaga, and Blizzaga on the party, and can change his elemental affinity, variably being weak to fire, lightning, or ice. Amon's elemental magic of the same element will be stronger depending on his weakness. He is immune to all statuses but Slow.
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius[]
Amon can be fought as a boss in the Chamber of the Indignant. Completing the trial 'Scorn of Gilgamesh' is required before you can face him. Every turn he inflicts the Zombie status ailment upon the entire party. This causes his healing spells to deal massive damage to the whole party, and is only stopped by reflection spells or the Reflect Ring accessory, which will reflect his healing magic back at him. While this may heal him, the amount healed is negligible. Alternatively, Zombie can be cured, but due to the boss inflicting it every turn this strategy isn't often used. Every few turns he imperils himself to the Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth elements, which leaves him open to attack; otherwise he has 300% resistance to all elements. He casts powerful magic, such as Ultima and Meteor, at lower health. Defeating him rewards the player with the materias Beast Killer+ and Avian Eater Magic.
Final Fantasy Trading Card Game[]
Final Fantasy XIV's Amon appears as Fire- and Lightning-elemental Forward cards.
