As the party arrives at Alfheim, they notice the odd creatures that inhabit the village alongside the mysterious Elven race. After talking to some Elven villagers, the party realizes that King Freyr, hierarch of the Elves, has allied himself and the denizens of Alfheim with the Empire. Many of the villagers questioned his actions, only to realize that King Freyr is a wise ruler who seems capable enough to know what is best for his own citizens. However, some villagers remain suspicious of Freyr's recent behaviors, citing even his son, Prince Adrian, distancing himself from the once kind ruler.
Despite the villagers warnings of humans not being allowed to enter Yggdrasil, the party decides against them and tries to do so anyway, only to be turned away by the elven guards securing its base. Glaive realizes the futility of trying to enter Yggdrasil as Alba mockingly insists on violence to get their way. Meanwhile, Gramps gets another headache, worrying the party while also leading to an epiphany wherein he feels that the mountains to the north are beckoning him to come hither. The party, suspicious and worried about his condition, follows Gramps in suit, thus trekking themselves onwards to the Northern Mountains.
