Alcyone is a fiend in Final Fantasy X encountered in Bikanel Desert.

Alcyones attacks will occasionally cause Darkness, unless Provoked, but the effect will only last three turns. They have a 33% chance of prioritizing their attacks on Wakka.
It drops weapons with Sensor as well as Strength +3% and Magic +3% (Distill Speed in the International and HD Remaster versions). It also drops armor with Dark Ward and Magic Def +5%.
Strategy[]
As with most avian-type fiends, Wakka may be the only character in the party with enough Accuracy to strike it. Lulu can also use Fire magic against it. The Smoke Bombs that can be stolen from them may be used by Rikku for an easy Overkill.

The Alcyone appears as an enemy in various Final Fantasy X dungeons. It only has one attack, a physical blow that can Blind its target.
Etymology[]
In Greek mythology, Alcyone was the daughter of Aeolus and wife of Ceyx. After the couple insulted Zeus, he killed Ceyx, which caused Alcyone to commit suicide. Out of compassion, the gods then turned Alcyone and Ceyx into halcyon birds.
