Mage that uses the secrets of alchemy.Description
Alchemist is a job from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for the nu mou. They focus on the offense, working to alter the composition of the opponent (ex: Toad and Poison) or the environment (ex. Meteor and Flare). Combining the Alchemist abilities with White Mage abilities makes for a versatile unit.
Alchemists always have access to the Item command, although it can never be actually equipped as a secondary A-Ability. Instead, the player can choose another action ability to be the secondary A-Ability and still use items in battle.
Alchemists have high MP, Magic Power and Resistance growths, below-average Speed, and abysmal HP, Attack and Defense. The Alchemist's stat growth can be seen as a balance between the Sage and the Time Mage.

The Alchemist has great magic power and excellent MP, and provides a decent amount of support. Instant death and frog are potent status effects, while Flare and Meteor provide strong magical damage. However, Alchemists have major competition with their close counterpart, the Sage. Both classes have similar stats, abilities, and even equipment. Sages perform better in physical combat, while Alchemists can handle a bit more magical attacks. Sages possess abilities that can be considered superior versions of the Alchemist's abilities, however, Alchemists have a few abilities that Sages don't. Alchemists can always use items, a privilege that no other class has. Overall, Alchemists and Sages are mostly interchangeable, but Alchemists have a few niches no one else can fulfill.
Enemy Alchemists are high-priority targets as they use toad, instant death, powerful magic and potent healing items. Alchemists have underwhelming physical stats, so the best way to deal with them is to get melee units up close to attack. Even with decently strong maces and items, Alchemists don't defend themselves well in close combat. Silence cuts off their magical capabilities, but they may be in possession of restorative items and cure their otherwise lethal status effects.
Alchemist appears on a card.
