The flag of the Al Bhed Psyches.
Woman A: I'm keeping a close eye on the Al Bhed Psyches this year.
Woman B: Ewww... Why would you root for the Al Bhed? You really do have bad taste.
Woman A: I like how they cover up their faces. It's just so sexy and mysterious.

Two women conversing.

The Al Bhed Psyches (アルベド・サイクス, Arubedo Saikusu?) is a blitzball team representing the Al Bhed race in Final Fantasy X. They are considered a ridiculously overpowered team when played against regularly in both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. Their goalie's CA stat is significantly higher than most player's SH.

Final Fantasy X[edit | edit source]

While facing the Besaid Aurochs in the semifinals of an annual tournament, another group of Al Bhed kidnapped Summoner Yuna under the guise of ransoming her for the win.

In truth, this was the first instance we see of the Al Bhed practice of kidnapping summoners to prevent them from completing their pilgrimage. She was, however, eventually rescued by her guardians Tidus, Lulu and Kimahri Ronso. The Psyches lost that match, leaving the Aurochs to face the Luca Goers in the finals.

Final Fantasy X -Will-[edit | edit source]

In the introduction in the audio drama, the Al Bhed Psyches are second most probable team to win the tournament in Bevelle.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Psyche is the Greek word for "soul" or "spirit" (ψυχή). In psychology, the psyche is the totality of the human mind, conscious and unconscious.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Like the players of the Besaid Aurochs, Psyches's players have double letters in their names.
  • When the Aurochs play the Psyches for the storyline tournament in Luca, the Psyches don't have their usual goalie. This can be seen when Wakka scores the final goal at the end of the match.
