
Akihiko Matsui.
Akihiko Matsui is a battle system designer, director, and producer who has worked for first Squaresoft and later Square Enix for over twenty years.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Matsui started working at Squaresoft as a debugger on Final Fantasy III (1990). He became a minor employee on the Final Fantasy IV (1991) team, making memory maps and having an influence on Edward Chris von Muir's character development. He directed Chrono Trigger (1995) with Yoshinori Kitase and Takashi Tokita. He is the current producer of Final Fantasy XI (2002), replacing Hiromichi Tanaka who resigned from the company. He was also the battle director of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (2013).
