Aeronite is an enemy in Final Fantasy XII found in the Lhusu Mines and the Pharos. It is surrounded by a thick Mist, making its appearance similar to that of a Giruveganus. If they are defeated out of the bounds of the map, they do not drop loot; otherwise they rarely drop the Dragon Helm.

Two are also fought in the Zodiac versions' Trial Mode in Stage 47 where Eksir Berries can be stolen or poached from them.

Bestiary entry[]

Page 1: Observations[]

Being a creature of extreme rarity, its body lighter than the air itself. Vents upon its back belch heat and steam upward, keeping the creature from floating too high. Should these vents be damaged, it would rise up and be carried away on the winds. Aeronites are revered among many cultures as a symbol of holiness, appearing as a motif in sculpture and murals.

Page 2: Concerning Heraldry[]

The airship armadas of one far-off land display the red wyvern wing as their heraldic crest. In this land, colors are used to distinguish class, with red being the most auspicious and thus the highest rank, used both for the royal family and, it being a military state, for their elite fleet. This Redwing Armada is said to be the strongest in the world, and serves as an excellent deterrent to invasion.

Battle[]

Aeronite is a fairly strong enemy, with high stats and a range of elemental and status-inflicting attacks. As a flying enemy, the party can only attack it using ranged weapons (spears/rods/poles work in the Zodiac versions), magick, technicks and attack items. The Lhusu Mines version has higher stats, while the Pharos version has more status immunities. Aeronites become more dangerous as their HP decreases.

Strategy[]

Because it lacks Safety, the Aeronite can be killed instantly. Using a Phoenix Down with Nihopalaoa or casting Death with Indigo Pendant will work.

If the player prefers a more conventional fight, the Lhusu Mines Aeronite can be weakened greatly by using Remedy with a Nihopalaoa, inflicting many debilitating status ailments. This is less effective against Aeronites in the Pharos, though Poison, Slow and (situationally) Oil will still make the battle easier.

Aeronite is weak to lightning. Casting Thundaga with Storm Staff or Cloud Staff equipped can do good damage. Alternatively, if Oil has been inflicted, then fire attacks can be used instead.

Having Reflect on the party will bounce back Aeronite's spells. It also allows the player to bounce Thundaga or (with Oil) Firaga off the party to hit Aeronite multiple times per cast.
