She could initially be recruited to the party by exchanging 3,000 Magicite Shards during the event Countdown to Destruction. Alternatively, she could be recruited in the Challenge Events Footsteps of the Cetra, Aspiring Hero, and A Night to Remember.
Aerith is first and foremost a White Mage, thus she has numerous healing Soul Breaks and a very high Mind stat. Her Soul Breaks particularly focus her on supporting physical parties, with her second Ultra Soul Break, as well as her Awakening and Sync, granting the party three turns of reduced charge time for physical attacks. These Soul Breaks also give the party the valuable status Last Stand, allowing them to survive blows that would otherwise KO them. Her second Legend Materia gives Aerith a 35% chance to cast a healing spell on the party whenever she uses a White Magic ability. This Legend Materia can be triggered by dualcast effects and the follow-up attack of Soul Breaks that classify the follow-up as a White Magic ability, which includes the follow-up from Aerith's Awakening. Her Relic Legend Materia gives Aerith a 25% chance to dualcast White Magic abilities, but it will only trigger for the initially used ability.
Her Hero Ability, Healing Winds, heals a large amount of HP to the party but has a longer-than-normal casting time. When used in conjunction with Aerith's Awakening or Sync, its casting time will be either greatly reduced or removed. Coupled with her two mentioned Legend Materias, Aerith is capable of healing significant amounts of damage every turn with a little bit of luck on her Materia activating. With her Awakening active Aerith will supplement all of her normal healing spells with 3000 points of automatic healing for the party, making her even more adept at continuous healing. When using her Sync, Aerith's first use of her second Sync command grants the party Last Stand again and gives Aerith 250 Soul Break gauge, letting her easily transition from her Sync to her Awakening as the former is about to wear off, or she can cast her Ultra Soul Break to renew the party's hastened attack speed.
All-in-all, these capabilities make Aerith one of the best picks for a White Mage on physical-focused teams. While her VII comrade, Cait Sith, is adept at supporting magical teams, most VII characters are physical fighters and thus Aerith's primary skill is highly valued in her home realm. When looking at other content, Aerith may not be desirable for magical teams; while she still functions very well as an all-around general White Mage, she offers little that other White Mages cannot. This is heightened by her limited ability pool, which does not give her many options to bring supportive skills to a fight.

Aerith can use Black Magic abilities up to Rank 3, White Magic abilities up to Rank 5 (Rank 6 after relevant Nightmare Dungeon is completed), Summoning abilities up to Rank 5 (Rank 6 after relevant Nightmare Dungeon is completed), and Support abilities up to Rank 2.
