Adonis takes Lightning to see his boss.

When Lightning first arrives at Ruffian, she runs into Adonis who guards Monoculus' leader. He reveals a bit of information about the desert, but refuses to tell her more, stating that she must be a member of Monoculus in order to find out more. In order to join the gang, and to prove her worth, Adonis tasks her with ending the sandstorm, called God's Wrath, which no-one has been able to deal with. He informs her of the monster that is near the storm and how it holds the key to ending it.

After Lightning defeats the monster and collects the relic needed to end the sandstorm, Adonis appears and tells her to use the relic to activate a monument next to the storm. After God's Wrath subsides, Adonis is impressed with Lightning's power and accepts Lightning as a part of the guild, revealing that Monoculus' leader has been tracking her since she got off from the train at the Dead Dunes station. He then takes Lightning to meet his boss, who is revealed to be Oerba Yun Fang, a former companion of Lightning.

Spoilers end here.
