Adamantortoise is an enemy in Final Fantasy X-2. It is encountered in the Farplane and floors 70-74 of the Via Infinito and appears as a palette swap of the Adamantoise.

Battle[]
Adamantortoise enjoys massive amounts of HP, Defense and Magic Defense, as well as immunity to debuffs and the ability to augment its offense and defense. Its ordinary attacks do negligible damage, but it occasionally uses the powerful Adamant Breath for fire-based damage and Tremor for heavy non-elemental physical damage. In Oversoul, Adamantortoise gains access to Breath of the Gorgon, which can petrify an entire party if they do not have the appropriate protections equipped.
Strategy[]
The Gunner's Table Turner deals more damage the more defense the enemy has. It grows even deadlier as Adamantortoise uses Defense Up.
The Samurai's Sparkler and Fireworks ignore defense and Fingersnap can cancel out defensive and offensive augmentations. The Blue Bullet skill Annihilator, acquired very late in the game, can do 9999 damage (or more, if the character casting it has break damage limit) at level 60. It ignores magic defense.
Spare Change is effective, albeit expensive. Mortar, Storm Cannon and Flare are other last-resort options with even smaller damage-to-cost ratios. Mortar ignores defense but costs double the cost of the Annihilator and is harder to learn.
Captured creatures can prove useful when fighting the Adamantortoise - creatures like the Tonberry and Aka Manah have Ailment Def. already learned, which blocks the petrifying effect of Breath of the Gorgon. The Impale ability usable by the Machina Hunter, Machina Ranger, and Machina Leader can also penetrate the Adamantortoise's defenses easily.
Creature Creator[]
Unlocked after visiting the Farplane at least once in Chapter 5, the Adamantortoise can be added to the player's party with a Trap pod L placed in Besaid. True to its enemy counterpart, the Adamantortoise boasts incredibly high stats all across the board, especially max HP. At Level 99, when equipped with the Mascot dressphere and two accessories that boost max HP by 100%, the Adamantortoise has well over 82,000 HP. This makes it useful when fighting incredibly tough enemies or bosses like the Mega Tonberry, Major Numerus, Paragon, or Trema.
Fiend Tale[]
In the Fiend Tale endings, a notable Adamantortoise is an ancient fiend that has been resting with Shinra probing its mind to learn more about it and Spira's geological history. Returning the fiend to the sea from which it emerged eons ago reveals that Adamantortoise was the core of Shinra's theory that fiends predate known life on Spira.
Etymology[]
Adamantoise is a portmanteau of "adamantite" and "tortoise".
Adamantite and similar words including Adamant and Adamantine are used to refer to any especially hard substance, whether composed of diamond, some other gemstone, or some type of metal.
