Stats[edit | edit source]
Battle[edit | edit source]
Adamantoise is weak to Ice and boasts incredibly high Defense, so melee fighters will have a difficult time inflicting any damage.
Strategy[edit | edit source]
It is best to use a Blizzard spell to defeat it. If no party member can currently cast Blizzard, there is a treasure chest earlier in the Snow Cave containing the spell. Alternatively, the Antarctic Wind found in the Snow Cave will kill it in one use.
The player can also use the Ancient Sword found in the Snow Cave to inflict Curse on the Adamantoise, drastically reducing its Attack and Defense to the point where it poses little harm and even a weaker attacker can inflict reliable damage.
Other appearances[edit | edit source]

Etymology[edit | edit source]
Adamantoise is a portmanteau of "adamantite" and "tortoise".
Adamantite and similar words including Adamant and Adamantine are used to refer to any especially hard substance, whether composed of diamond, some other gemstone, or some type of metal.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
In the PS and GBA versions it had its colors switched with the Land Turtle.
