FFXII Achilles

Achilles in Final Fantasy XII.

Achilles (アキレス, Akiresu?) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series.

Appearances

Final Fantasy XII

Achilles is a technick that causes a target to be weak against one additional random element; however, most enemies are immune to its effects. Its license costs 40 License Points. Achilles can be bought at Rabanastre, Nalbina and Jahara for 8,800 gil.

In the Zodiac versions, the technick is found in a chest in the No. 4 Cloaca Spur area in the Garamsythe Waterway. It can be used by the job classes Archer, Machinist, Monk, Uhlan and White Mage.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

Achilles is a Special Ability learned by Drace at level 68 (Rarity 5★). It has a 25% random chance of decreasing any of the following elemental resistances by 30%: Fire and Water, Ice and Wind, Lightning and Earth or Light and Dark. The awakened version of Achilles further boosts the turn duration and the elemental decrease percentage (+1 by 50% and 3 turns; +2 by 80% and 4 turns, respectively).

Etymology

In Greek mythology, Achilles was a Greek hero of the Trojan War, the central character and the greatest warrior of Homer's Iliad. Achilles was as a babe dipped into the river Styx by his sea-nymph mother, and became protected from all harm by its waters. Only his heel, by which she had lowered him, remained unprotected, and by this vulnerability was he slain. This is reflected in the ability's effects.
