It starts glowing when hit. After the 3rd pulse, it attacks with a Sonic Wave. Put it to sleep to prevent it from glowing. It takes no damage from water, but is weak against lightning.

Achelous is a fiend in Final Fantasy X. It is encountered in the water of the Mt. Gagazet caves. Being a water-based monster, it is vulnerable to Lightning-based attacks. When targeted, it will begin to charge. Any ability that targets multiple enemies will also cause it to charge. It will not charge if it is afflicted with Sleep or hit by a counterattack. Once it charges three times, it will use Sonic Wave on its next turn to damage the party.
Achelous will still charge if Provoked, though the move won't be displayed. When Provoked, it uses a physical attack with reduced accuracy.
