Abyssal Maw (アースサラウンド, Āsu Saraundo?, lit. Earth Surround), also known as Earth Aura, is a recurring ability in the series. It is the attack of the summon Midgardsormr which deals Earth-elemental damage to all enemies.

Abyssal Maw is the summon ability of Midgardsomr which deals Earth-elemental damage to all enemies with a spell power of 93 and a success rate of 150 at the cost of 40 MP. As with most other Earth-elemental attacks, it will miss against enemies with the Float status.

Final Fantasy Dimensions II[edit | edit source]

Midgardsormr's summon attack is Abyssal Maw, which inflicts earth-elemental damage to all enemies and inflicts speed down for 3 turns. Summoning Midgardsormr costs 2 bars from the Summon Gauge.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper[edit | edit source]

Abyssal Maw is used by the boss Savage Marilith Magicite boss. It deals Earth-elemental damage to the entire party. An upgraded version, Savage Abyssal Maw, is used by Marilith as it grows weak.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Abyss refers to a bottomless pit, to the underworld, to the deepest ocean floor, or to hell, or more loosely to any chasm or large drop.
