Abel is Denzel's father in On the Way to a Smile "Episode: Denzel". Abel worked in Shinra's Third Business Department and lived above the Sector 7 plate. He is voiced by Yoshimitsu Shimoyama in the OVA.
Having been born in a poor village, Abel was proud to have come so far and, believing it was important to maintain a goal in life, hoped to one day move his family into Sector 3. Abel was promoted to the head of the department and made plans to move to Sector 5. Abel told Denzel that the people in the slums below the plate ate rats and that he was lucky to be born above the plate.
On the day that Shinra destroyed Sector 7, Abel was forced to leave Denzel with Mr. Arkham and had him take Denzel to their Sector 5 home to pursue his wife, Chloe who refused to abandon their Sector 7 neighbors and have gone there to warn them about the city's destruction after hearing form Abel that the scum (Which are Shinra higher-ups but chose to omit this fact called them scum in front of his family to protect them from Shinra) that blow up reactor one have decided to destroy sector seven.
Abel and Chloe both were killed when the sector seven plate fell.

Etymology[]
Abel is the second son of Adam and Eve according to the Book of Genesis. When Abel and his brother Cain both made offerings to God, God accepted Abel's offering over Cain's. Jealous and angry, Cain killed his brother, becoming the first murderer.
