Hoodwinked[]

Journal[]

  • As part of your initiation, Deaustie has seen fit to explain the general philosophy of the weavers at Sunsilk Tapestries, the guiding maxims of which are "beauty is everything," and "truth lies in appearances," to paraphrase. The weavers strive to costume their custom so that they may adequately play their roles in life. Your first mentor is to be Chuchumu, a Lalafell of low means with a good heart. Find her at the Golden Bazaar.
  • You arrive at the hamlet known as the Golden Bazaar to find Chuchumu in tears. Having been attacked by a feral beast, her red riding hood, a family heirloom lent her by her stepmother, was torn to shreds. She must have another lest she face her stepmother's wrath. Return to Sunsilk Tapestries and see what can be done.
  • Having heard of Chuchumu's plight, Deaustie has directed you to help the poor Lalafell. Repair her tattered red riding hood using the ripped red riding hood, a bolt of undyed cotton cloth, a pot of all-purpose red dye, and a spindle of cotton yarn.
  • You have repaired Chuchumu's red riding hood. Travel once more to the Golden Bazaar and deliver it to her.
  • You arrive too late to the Golden Bazaar to spare Chuchumu the chidings of her evil stepmother, Lady Ouvielle. Your ruse seems to work, however, as her fury is quelled when you present her the repaired red riding hood. There is nothing else that can be done for now. Return to Sunsilk Tapestries to receive your reward.

Dance the Night Away[]

Journal[]

  • Deaustie passes on tidings of a ball to be put on by the royal family and the Syndicate in the near future. Chuchumu must see to the tailoring of evening gowns for her two wicked stepsisters. However, Lady Ouvielle's place in high society has earned an open invitation for her entire family—including a certain lowly Lalafell stepdaughter! At Deaustie's request, aid Chuchumu in her tasks so that she might have time to prepare for the ball herself.
  • Chuchumu has told you that she has no hope of attending the ball without first procuring a pair of magic slippers from the green wizard of Gridania. Though it sounds like the stuff of faerie tales, travel north to Gridania and discover what you can about this wizard and his fabled footwear.
  • Soileine of the Conjurers' Guild at Stillglade Fane has suggested that you make your inquiries at the Ebony Stalls. Make your way there and see if any of the merchants might prove useful.
  • A merchant named Theldry at the Ebony Stalls has told you that what you seek are none other than the midnight slippers which she herself is selling. Unfortunately, a buyer has already reserved them and Theldry is nothing if not a woman of her word. However, she confides that she may be able to sell you the slippers if you could advertise her shop enough to compensate for slightly sullying her name. Speak to the customers around you and say whatever you must to boost the popularity of Theldry's shop.
  • You shamelessly promoted Theldry's shop and acquired the midnight slippers. Return to Sunsilk Tapestries in Ul'dah and deliver them to Chuchumu.
  • You have given Chuchumu the magical midnight slippers which she so desired. Together with the gown she created for herself, she heads to the royal ball in the highest of spirits. The deed done, go and see Deaustie about your reward.

A Fruitful Murder[]

Journal[]

  • The talk all over town is of the royal ball and a beautiful maiden who appeared and captured the crown prince's heart, only to flee the palace at the stroke of midnight, leaving behind a single glove in her haste. Armed with this glove, the prince is scouring the city in search of his beloved. As a result, ladies from all over Ul'dah have placed orders for single gloves in hopes of deceiving the prince. While there is still a profit to be made, Deaustie has asked that you craft ten pairs of luxurious gloves.
  • Chuchumu has informed you that luxurious gloves can only be crafted using Thanalan spider silk. To procure this precious material, travel to the Copperbell Mines, where the spiders that produce it can be found. The design for each pair of luxurious gloves calls for a strand of Thanalan spider silk, a bolt of undyed velveteen, and a spindle of cotton yarn.
  • Near the entrance to the Copperbell Mines, you find Chuchumu entangled in spiderwebs. Carefully peel away the webs to free her without damaging the precious silk. Use each strand of Thanalan spider silk you obtain together with a bolt of undyed velveteen and a spindle of cotton yarn to synthesize the ten pairs of luxurious gloves requested of you.
  • Freeing your mentor from the spiderwebs, you obtained the silk you required and were able to craft ten pairs of luxurious gloves. Speak to Chuchumu again to receive your next instructions.
  • Return to Sunsilk Tapestries and deliver the ten pairs of luxurious gloves to Deaustie.
  • Upon delivering your luxurious gloves to Deaustie, none other than the crown prince himself suddenly enters Sunsilk Tapestries. When the glove proves to fit the hand of Chuchumu perfectly, the prince realizes that it was she he fell in love with at first sight on the night of the ball. However, a faerie tale ending seems far from likely, as Lady Ouvielle must put forth a sizeable dowry before Chuchumu has any hope of marrying into the royal family. Deaustie suggests that you visit the balcony above the fountain in the Gold Court to see how this drama will end.
  • You come upon Chuchumu at the Gold Court, and inquire about her dowry dilemma. Upon doing so, the power of the Echo reveals to you a scene in which her evil stepmother and wicked stepsisters drop dead after eating poisoned apples given to them by Chuchumu. Your mentor reveals that since she stands to inherit the family fortune, a sizeable dowry will pose no problems. Return to Sunsilk Tapestries and speak with Deaustie of what you have learned.
