A Fireworks Nocturne: A Midsummer Night's Dream was a seasonal event in Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. Part of ongoing Summer 2024 festivities, this event picks up after the events of "Summer's Here! Fireworks on the Beach". It ran from July 30 to August 19, 2024. The story thus returns to the alternate Costa del Sol of the present day as established in the previous event.
Story[]
The party returns from gathering materials to find Tamaya and Hana in another spat, this time with each accusing the other of dousing their fireworks to prevent their being ignited. Cloud and co. attempt to defuse the argument and soon find the cause: celebratory cactuars that demand a fireworks show of their own! Thus, they propose a new challenge for the two teams: gather enough of their kind to perform a show worthy of their needle-y brethren. Once again, the loser must perform a task of the winner's choosing and forfeit their collection.
Team Cloud wins the competition and suggests that the squabbling siblings work together for their performance. Neither gains favor with their teacher as was hoped for, as each receives half credit. Bot by working in concert, the pair puts on a dazzling display for all to enjoy. What follows next depends on the women in the party when fighting the final Boomtaurs of the story:
- Cloud and Tifa reminisce on fireworks shows in Nibelheim, though Cloud, being the loner that he is, never attended a show.
- Cloud and Aerith try to strike up a conversation, but the fireworks were too loud, and they couldn't talk.
- Cloud and Yuffie discuss the use of fireworks by Wutai shinobi, but as is her MO, she really wants to steal the party's materia should she successfully exploit Cloud's trust.
Event rewards[]
Players battled the pyrotechnic Boomtuar for Cactus Headbands, Red Fireworks, and Blue Fireworks to use in the shop, where Yuffie's Cactuar Fan and Cait Sith's Fireworks Megaphone were featured as event bonus items.
