Use[]
ATB Stagger materia fills a character's ATB gauge after they stagger an enemy. The increase varies depending on the materia's level. When an enemy is staggered, the user can immediately perform an ATB ability to deal damage to them, making ATB Stagger a useful materia in some circumstances. Combined with Stop, this can help kill most bosses in one stagger.
ATB Stagger is a good materia to equip on Tifa because her abilities and general kit are geared towards building up an enemy's stagger, and her Unbridled Strength techniques excel at increasing an enemy's stagger bonus damage. With ATB Stagger materia, Tifa can immediately use Unbridled Strength after staggering an enemy to then increase its bonus damage. Another character who benefits from the materia is Cloud, whose abilities focus on raw damage output. With ATB Stagger, he can immediately follow up staggering an enemy with a powerful melee attack.
ATB Stagger materia can be used in combination with other materia that also increase characters' ATB gauges rather quickly. These include First Strike Materia, ATB Assist Materia, Skill Master Materia, and ATB Boost Materia. ATB Boost can be used with ATB Stagger to, after gaining ATB from staggering an enemy, immediately double this to gain two ATB charges, unleashing more powerful attacks on a weakened enemy. As before, Tifa can use her abilities together in quick succession in combos with her high Speed to deal burst damage to a staggered enemy, while Cloud can take advantage of using powerful abilities, such as Infinity's End, quickly after an enemy is staggered, as Infinity's End is especially powerful against staggered foes but takes two ATB bars to execute.
