Increases amount of AP earned for linked materia.

Description

AP Up materia is a Support Materia Support Materia in Final Fantasy VII Remake and "Episode INTERmission". When linked with any materia, it will double the AP that materia earns from battle.

AP Up materia begins as a pedometer materia (あるきまにあ, aruki mania?, lit. walking mania), a Complete Materia Complete Materia, which solely tracks the number of steps taken by a character. After 5,000 steps, the pedometer materia transforms into AP Up materia.

Obtained[]

May do something after taking a number of steps with it set.

Description to Pedometer Materia

The pedometer materia, the first form of AP Up materia, is obtained in "In Search of Hope" near Aerith's house in the Sector 5 Slums. Once obtained, it should be equipped to any character who has a spare slot. After 5,000 steps are walked with the materia, it will transform into the AP Up materia. In a repeat playthrough, the pedometer materia on the ground is replaced by a Healing Materia Healing Materia Healing materia where pedometer materia used to be from FFVII Remake.

In "INTERmission", AP Up is won from completing "Mastering Fort Condor". A second one can also be in Chapter 2, "Covert Ops", in the room where Yuffie and Sonon fight the Armored Shock Trooper and Armored Magitrooper (after turning the power on and defeating them).

Use[]

AP Up materia doubles the AP that the paired materia earns from battle. The player should use this on any materia they prioritize for leveling up. It can be especially useful on materia such as Revival Materia Revival Materia and Subversion Materia Subversion Materia, which require a lot of AP to level up, and which have extremely useful higher level spells.

Etymology[]

The Japanese name for the pedometer materia is "Walking Mania". The developers thought it would be boring to give it a serious name. The original Final Fantasy VII had a lot of goofy things and many games have been sticking with more serious naming conventions, and so to shake things up they decided to add something a little outside the norm.[1]
