Final Fantasy Wiki

The 4-point Shuriken, also known simply as the 4-Point Shuriken,[1] is Yuffie's initial weapon in Final Fantasy VII. It has stats on-par with weapons available at Kalm, and three Materia slots, two of which are linked.

Mechanics[]

As the 4-point Shuriken has a base Attack stat bonus of 23, the base damage for physical attacks when the 4-point Shuriken is equipped is in the following formula:

where "Level" is Yuffie's current level and "Strength" is her Strength stat. The 4-point Shuriken also has an Attack% (Accuracy) of 100%, and grants a small bonus to Yuffie's Magic stat.

The 4-point Shuriken is initially equipped on Yuffie, but can be replaced immediately, as the superior Boomerang is available to steal from the enemies fought in the same forest where the Mystery Ninja first appears. Depending on when the player recruits Yuffie, a better replacement for the weapon may be available. Yuffie offers the ability to throw the weapon at an enemy and deal damage, rather than selling it.

4-point Shuriken has three Materia slots, two of which are linked. One will be filled with the Throw Materia by default. Yuffie's stats are average across the board, meaning she can be viably built towards physical or magic damage. As such, the slots can either be used for Command Materia or Magic Materia depending on the preferred playstyle.

Etymology and origin[]

A shuriken is a traditional Japanese concealed weapon that was generally used for throwing, and sometimes stabbing or slashing. Juji shuriken tend to be the most recognizable variant of shuriken associated with shinobi and ninja, being versatile throwing weapons and studied to double as utility and survival tools. Schools of ninjutsu said to specialize in their use included Yagyu Shinkage and the Iga school of ninjutsu.
