Diamond Weapon is a boss in Final Fantasy VII. It is one of the Planet's many WEAPONs, which have been released by Sephiroth. The party fights it as it approaches Midgar towards the end of the game. Its attacks include a foot stomp, a blast of magical energy, and its Diamond Flash, a Gravity-based attack with a 3-turn countdown that also inflicts Silence.

Diamond Weapon in battle
Diamond Weapon's laser ray deals 700+ damage to one target and foot stomp 1000+. When the Weapon's HP is low the Weapon will use the Countdown. Unless you kill it in 3 rounds it will use the Diamond Flash attack that deals 1500-3500 damage to all party members, and casts Silence.
Since Diamond Weapon is immune to physical attacks, take him out with magic and summons (Bolt 3, Tornado, Break, Ultima work well). Eventually, the Weapon may open up its armour allowing you to use physical attacks. Diamond Weapon instantly becomes vulnerable to physical attacks if it uses Diamond Flash.
Remember to steal Rising Sun for Yuffie; this is the only way to get it.

Once the party reduces Diamond Weapon's HP to zero, it is still alive and approaching Midgar. Once within range, it opens fire on Shinra Headquarters. At that same time, however, Shinra fires the Sister Ray, which successfully pierces Diamond Weapon and destroys the barrier Sephiroth put up over the Northern Crater. The fact that Diamond Weapon lies on a straight line drawn from Midgar and the Northern Crater suggests that unlike the other Weapons, who can be found wandering in various places, Diamond Weapon left the crater with a specific target in mind. It is also one of only two of the WEAPONs required to fight in order to advance through the story, the first being Ultimate WEAPON in Mideel. Interestingly, upon closer inspection of the FMV where Diamond Weapon is blasted, it appears to be heading away from Midgar before launching an attack on it.
Trivia[]
- Diamond Weapon was not a battle in the original Japanese version of the game and only appeared in the FMVs. Yuffie's weapon Rising Sun existed in the game data, but there was no way to obtain it.
