FFII's encounter rate is super-duper high, I find. Particularly the NES version where I died a ton in the final dungeon to Coeurls and Death Riders. The option to turn them off in the Pixel Remaster is a godsend.
I. Final Fantasy VI, Kefka is the selling point, he's amazing.
II. Kefka, 100%! But I also like Terra, Cyan, Shadow, and Celes
III. Damn, this one's a toughie. Maybe the rich kid in Jidoor?
IV. In terms of gameplay, Celes. Runic is very useful for absorbing the final Ultima attacks from Kaiser Dragon and Magic Master and she's very well-rounded and benefits from every esper. In terms of story, Cyan. He's tormented about his family and his character arc is probably the best of all of them because he's overcoming his pain and depression.
V. The rages. Without a guide, these are impossible to figure out and what they do is random.
VI. FFII, easily. The OG FFII not FFIV.
VII. Emperor Mateus. He conquers both Heaven and Hell and is real smug.
VIII. Firion, he doesn't get much character development due to hardware limitatons.
IX. Minwu, both story and gameplay he knows a plethora of white magic spells and he sacrifices himself to let the party get Ultima and later beats the Emperor of Heaven.
X. The stat gain feature is innovative but that's all I shall say about it.
XI. FFVII Remake
XII. Apparently, it's a new twist on FFVII's story... it sounds interesting.
XIII. I haven't played any of the spin-offs yet. but I probably should.
XIV. Crisis Core.
XV. I already answered this! It's #6!
XVI. I haven't watched any.
XVII. FFIV, it's really nothing special but it is simple, and the DS version is really damn hard too.
XVIII. FFV. The job system, Gilgamesh, and Exdeath. People also chide the plot for its simplicity, but in spite of that it still has well-developed characters.
XIX. Cloud Strife, he's a complex character with an identity crisis that I think was wrote really well.
XX. Kefka! The insane, psychopathic clown who made an entire generation of gamers hate them.
XXI. Squall Leonhart. The mumbling, the ellipsis, the whining, the emo-ness.
XXII. Prob'ly Ultimecia. She's. got little motives and a weird verbal tick.
XXIII. Geez, this one's tough... perhaps Lenna maybe she's quite reckless and besides being a princess doesn't really have much personality unlike Faris and Krile. The recklessness also reminds of that time in Metroid Other M when Samus flung herself headlong into danger to get Adam Malkovitch's helmet.
XXIV. Cait Sith. He's a gambling cat who's flippant and manages to divide time between Shinra and Cloud's group.
XXV. Probably Setzer and Edgar, who both love to flip coins and are ladies' men.
XXVI. Strago, Terra, and Celes maybe? They could all discuss magic together and their abilities wielding it?
XXVII. I feel like Cecil. But, I don't exactly know why but I feel that he should probably have left Rosa to die I feel. I'm an asshole I know.
XXVIII. Geez, another toughie. maybe Relm. She's a spunky little girl with a lot of potential yet she doesn't get much screen time. She deserved more!
XXIX. I don't exactly know what you mean by that come back as in "come back from the dead" or "come back from a mere first appearance"? I dunno.
XXX. FFV-2 where Enuo returns and does some crazy-ass Sephiroth or Ultimecia stuff and it's even more absurd, wacky, and funny than the previous game.
They're great! I'm almost done FFV and I've just started with FFVI. I didn't get FFIV 'cause the GBA translation is kinda crappy with all the dead memes and retained censorship and stuff but the rest I did get.
And they're all great ways to play the games!
Alright, for me:
VII - Really solid, love the writing and the replay value is high for me. Gameplay is fun too.
VI - Story's great, but like Batman 1989, the evil clown's the highlight. Solid gameplay and excellent writing and phenomenal music.
IX - Loved the story, best in the whole series, if only the gameplay were that good.
X - Story's great, sphere grid's great, characters are pretty good. CTBBS is probably my favorite battle system in the whole series.
IV - Loved the story, gameplay is solid if a bit lacking in some areas.
V - There is no plot but very, very excellent gameplay.
VIII - The only thing remembered is Triple Triad.
III - Liked the job system in this game. The music too.
I - A classic, but it hasn't aged the best in some places.
II - Hated the gameplay, but liked the story and music.
FFVII is my favorite, FFVI and FFIX too.
I've heard rumors of how bad it is, but I've never actually seen any of the blunders in action. Just how bad is it?

A few days ago, I beat that damned chocobo racing in FFX. Took me something like thirty tries, screw that game. So, any tips for lightning dodge? Trying to gather all the celestial weapons, only have Tidus, Rikku, Yuna, and Auron's all fully powered up.
FFI on NES classic edition, FFIV on DS, FFV on PS1 (I know, it sucks), FFVI on GBA, FFVII, VIII, and X on Switch, and FFIX on PS1.
The only ones I recall getting were Punishing Meteor and Spinning Edge.
