The world of the original is not vast.
I don't see how deep characters could be cliché, the real clichés characters are those which are very not developed like president shinra. You confuse with Archetypes.
Ps1
Final Fantasy VII totally looks like a shonen/seinen manga of 90s' many did not make the connectionn, the univers is inspired by lot of pop culture elements.
Midgar is a fusion of New york, London and Tokyo.
Final Fantasy is a series of RPG but it's japaneses games with japaneses artists inspired by the japanese culture, the battle in manga is just a representation of their battle culture with very artistic movements in far east unlike the west.
There are anime of everything and many were inspired by FF.
Finally, if Final fantasy looks like an anime it's normal, it's magic world with magic abilities in a japanese game, why not fight in the sky with a levitating materia.
And then Advent Children is 100% an anime, it's the Nomura art style :/
In Smash Bros Ultimate... lol...
Hmmm what are you talking about?
I imagine the dynamic part of Beyond the wasteland of Advent children playing during the fights in the midgar area and the first part of the music when there is none, I aslo absolutely want to hear For the reunion. I think there will be almost the musics of advent children because there is Promised land in the part1.
What excites me the most is the world map, discorver the world of FFVII I want to see the landscapes, the flora and fauna etc, things invisible from the original world map.
I hope not to be disappointed on this point...
I'm also enthousiastic by the Gold Saucer too for many reasons, I imagine the chocobo racing scripted in the plot with an intense race against other competitors (with cheaters who use weapon etc). In original game we must win the race to get out of corel prison! Imagine others bad guys in the same situation, this scene could be amazing!!
I look forward to see the Cloud flashbacks, and lots of other scenes too it was difficult to choose, but for me it's the Gold Saucer.
The playstyle of prompto in the DLC has nothing to do with that of barret in FF7R. Regarding vehicles, it is possible, but it is not the same team nor the same game engine, so it could be different.
@AtmaChaos I think that making games inaccessible to the general public is a much more fatal error. And for once FF7R is a ATB game.
The combat system is not like FFXV, it's more like Devil May Cry combats. There will not be the same grip, it's full action but there is an infinity of different action systems it is not necessarily like FFXV.
You should know that this is not the same team as for FFXV so you have to expect it to be different.
And for the FF7R battle system (AtmaChaos) there is no reason to say bad things about it, i think you haven't seen it in depth (do hard mode) .

Why post it here in this case, there is nothing to say about it.
:/
I think a character will die, which I don't know.
But the Aerith death scène will certainly be present even in the case where there is no death.
They might make us believe that she doesn't die to surprise when she dies, and there might be some false leads for newcomers like the death of Tifa, something that will make them doubt who is going to die and which could surprise all the players.
Otherwise Zack could sacrifice himself during this cult scene to save her, but there will be a death, otherwise the cult passage will not be sad and will not honor the original game.
It also depends on the cutting of the games.
If they have chosen to do an open game for the episode 2 it is conceivable to end up with a gigantic world in the last game (episode 2 would have the continent 1+2, episode 3 would have the continent 4, Wutai+Islands, it's an exemple I don't know how the game will be cut).
In any case even if it's an open world the game will be very scripted, he will set limits for us, the zones would thus be delimited by the points of no return, Costa del sol is a guaranteed point of no return, the mithril cave could be one too.
We can easily say that the game reproduce a bit what they did in episode 1 but in open areas with more varied objectives,
(for exemple in ff7r part1: the chapter 3 has a quests, the chapter 8 too, but no going back possible, you will have to use the chapter selection to do what you forgot.
I think that it will be the same in the game 2)
If it takes this form we could not really qualify the game 2 as open world because in an openworld game you can go anywhere, in this form its more a semi openworld game, remains to know the size of the zones, will be such large enough to give us an impression of total freedom.
(areas that would look more like FFXV than FFXIII)
If that is the case the last game can be a real openworld thanks to the Highwind and the addition of all open areas visited in all games + news islands.
The colored chocobos which would allow us to access inaccessible places in the areas of the previous episodes.
(The perfect way for the perfect endgame).
It's very difficult to make a choice like that XD

FFX has one of the best combat system from the serie, it is the most strategic system with that of "stagger" (13, 7 remake),
the cutscenes are very good, the story is not very unbelievable but the themes are very strong and the characters are very developed.
I really like the universe there is different races and languages although there are less memorable places.
Unfortunately the game is a straight lane and there is a real lack of freedom.
The final fantasy with the best structure are the PS1 episodes (7,8,9) the presence of the world map reinforces the feeling of traveling,
in the super nintendo episodes (4,5,6) here is a similar structure but less immersive (however they are not on switch)
for me to start with the 12 would be a bad choice, this game is a masterpiece and one of the best ps2 game, but is not a good gateway for understand what is final fantasy. (same for the 13 and the 15, but they are not on switch)
