The other day, I was reading through the characters battle quotes of Dissidia (PSP), namely the section with the ones said to specific characters.
When I passed through Jecht's, as expected of me, I focused mainly on the ones towards Kuja (I think I was actually seeing who didn't insult him among everyone, considering it's only a few characters). And then, after taking a good look at the quotes, I think Jecht is eitheir mistaken Kuja for a woman or judging him to be his boyfriend (the second option is actually scary and I hope that's not true). Because, look at them:
The first one seems something you'd say to your wife. Or a girl. In a more stereotypical way, I suppose. It can be that Jecht is admiring Kuja's looks and because of that doesn't feel confident in winning, which indicates a slight sight of flirt, or embarrassment, Idk.
The second one is Jecht literally judging Kuja as if he could be a substitute for his wife (ends up in rejection though). Like, wtf? Or he could literally be just expressing how Kuja talks about getting the things done and then doesn't get the things done (a reference to wanting to destroy the Master Crystal in FFIX and not doing so), I suppose.
Still, it was quite a shock, considering I see them as good friends. The type of friends that no longer call each other by the name, they refer to each other as a**holes. Yes, the friendly insulting kind. Weird, I know, but that's my mind in a nutshell.
This could, however, be a hidden reference to people believing Kuja is a female (I still don't understand why and I don't think I ever will) when they first see him, and there aren't many flirty, ladies man kind of character in Dissidia, being them more exclusively Zidane and Jecht. Since Zidane already knows Kuja (and they're brothers), that leaves Jecht to deal with the joke.
