…and it’s great!
Hello, Final Fantasy Wiki! It’s NicktoonLover, and I am new here!
I’m ready to explore the “Final Fantasy” franchise, and I have one game from the franchise, and that is Final Fantasy IX. I am proud to be a fan of the franchise, and I cannot wait to make some memories here! :)
Aso, while we're on the topic of FFIX, Square Enix made this whole website dedicated to FFIX's 25th Anniversary! I wonder if it'll mean something big...

It's not finished yet, far from it, but it's been a while since I last sent the link here (and have continued my FFIX playthrough because life), so I decided to repost it and inform I'm going to continue it today (because I'm going back to game, finally. Been weeks since I wanted to get back to it, but other things came up).
As usual, I accept criticism about it, suggestions about how I should approach a certain part, the way I deliver the information, my own personal comments (that I already tend to tone down as much as I can, but I also like to add a few, especially because these guides I do are very based on the guide I use for FFX-2 and that one also has some personal comments and I like that detail), etc. And as usual, the link should allow anyone to comment on the very document, so you can select a specific part and talk only about it.
Well, anyway, time to go over one of my favorite parts because Josef is the GOAT.
Edit: Oh yeah, just a quick note. I intend to eventually mark as a title and subtitles whenever Disc changes and location changes. I already make those separations, but I make it manually, changing only size and adding some other details for it to stand out, but marking it has title and subtitles will allow for easier travel to go where a player is at without having to cross the whole guide again. I'll do this small change once I have the guide complete and I'll make it on my FFVIII guide as well by then (that way I don't forget).

What do you think of this?
Apparently FFIXR is done, and does seem to be a remake completely different from FFVIIR, in that it's not some alternate universe (or making what's bad even worse cough cough), but an actual expansion of the original game. I'm excited to see where this goes.
ADVANCE: I'M SORRY, SEPHIROTH IT WAS ALL THE BIDDING OF MY EVIL MASTER. PLEASE SPARE MY PITIFUL HUMAN LIFE!
Alright, I'm done.
By the way, @EritsuIsTaken , this is your fault. You made me create a monster. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. SEPHIROTH WILL NOT SPARE YOUR PITIFUL HUMAN LIFE.
I'M SORRY, SEPHIROTH. Quote: "Being here...it brings back memories." *THROWS DESTRUCT MATERIA AT CLOUD A FEW SECONDS LATER*-Sephiroth, in the Shinra basement. I would have done his most famous quote, (you know the one) but I was too lazy to remember it if I'd seen it, or search for where it came from, so you get this one! By the way, completely separate, but I started playing FFIX a while ago, and I like it! (Only two hours in LOL) Mom and Dad watched me, and said I was about to learn an important life lesson at the ticket booth. And i did! D: Poor ViVi...And last night, I was like, *GASP* WAIT IT'S THE JUNON PARADE THEME LESSGOOOOOO. And...now I've gotta chase down Garnet...again...FOR THE SECOND TIME IN TWO FLIPPIN' HOURS! (But not for the same reason) Oh, and for the swordfight scene, got a 98. Mom kept getting 99, but Dad got 100...
Oh, and by the way, first one to comment with a FINAL FANTASY SEVEN character gets it made next!

None yet, but add a comet emoji to be added! ☄
I really enjoy seeing those random airships crossing the sky while there's mist in the Mist Continent for the first part of the game. They have no purpose other than some extra little world building, but that's exactly why I love them. You didn't really see anything similar before, so I just find it really cool how the developers went through the trouble of coding those in.
Tbf, it's not much in the gameplay side of things, it's more in the animation and design of things that I'm worried about.
I guess a flash of light does the trick (imagine if they did it magical girl transformation style lol. We already got FFX-2 for that though). But if I recall correctly, the Ultimania or whatever it was revealed Zidane sheds his clothes when entering Trance..... But then again, Zidane has enter in Trance in Dissidia, no big deal there I guess. But Zidane is a thing, he has fur to make up for the fact he's naked. Amarant isn't so lucky... Are they're gonna do him Terra style? I do like the Tarzan/man raised in the wild that him being naked in Trance has, but for a more 3D HD setting, not sure if it will be allowed.
Also makes me wonder if the temporary playable characters will be given the opportunity to Trance now or still not. Probably the latter.
I was thinking of also doing a guide for it, like I did for FFVIII, but I don't know. It was fun to do that guide, but FFVIII can be a challenging game if you don't know what to do, even more with the unique level system that you either understand or you don't, while FFIX not so much. It's far more straightforward and simple, meaning it would also be kinda useless to make a guide of it.
Can do it either way, but would like to know of others opinions, because personally I don't really see a reason to do it.

I just hope they don't mess up the whole story like with FFVII. I'd be pretty heartbroken if that happened.
I decided to get into Final Fantasy and I chose IX as my first, and I am so glad I did. Everything was amazing, the world, the art, the story and especially the characters.
I cried reading Vivi's monologue at the end, and I'm so glad Zidane and Dagger got their happy ending. I also loved Kuja as a villain.
I just wanted to show my appreciation to the game to some people who would get it haha. If the other games are anything like IX was I am super excited to experience them.
I might have done a post like this before about being softlocked and told that it isn't as easy to get softlocked as you think, but that might have been the Ice Cavern section, I'm thinking about Evil Forest before the first Prison Cage fight.
Because, there are zero opportunities to heal between arrival in the forest and the first Prison Cage fight. You can steal potions with Zidane, but as he is your only character at this point you'll take damage in the process of doing this.
So, my question is, if you happen to use up all of your potions before you fight Prison Cage, you kinda need to use them to heal Garnet during the fight coz I think you get game over if she dies, so if you have no potions going into that point, before where you can heal with the spring or buy Tents, then are you screwed?
And if you save your potions and keep the damage, how are you going to beat the boss?
I think I just rush at it without many fights and that's why I'm able to beat it.
Specifically the Ice Cavern?
I haven't played in a bit (though I am watching Magemasher's playthrough right now) but I am sure I remember, while the Evil Forest has room for level grinding and getting gil to buy Tents with (while being able to heal at the spring), once you are out of Evil Forest, you have no means of healing besides magic (I think) and Tents, if Dagger runs out of magic, and can't get to any inns or more places to buy Tents until after beating Black Waltz 1.
So, what if you run out of both magic and Tents in the Ice Cavern, and are completely unable to heal? Especially if you haven't gotten to the boss yet, which you have to fight solo as Zidane?
This kind of thing I consider a bigger flaw in the game than the slow ATB gauge, and its primary flaw. (I can name one for each game, though FFV and FFXII's aren't quite as bad as some of the others)
What will happen on FFIX's 23rd (I think) anniversary, I wonder? Will there be big announcements considering "certain" events, or will it be another run-of-the-mill celebration with nothing out of the ordinary? Knowing Square Enix's track record, I'm guessing the latter. But one can dream! In the meantime, please enjoy this art I made of Kuja celebrating. I just can't believe FFIX's anniversary is tomorrow!
I have a feeling one of the few users here will be more interested in this than my sixth FFVII playthrough (and even that they weren't disinterested in).
So, I might do better this time knowing what I know now. I've learned to steal from every enemy (unless I am in a big rush to beat them) to get potions (plus of course to get Thievery powered up), I will want them for that long stretch of the game where there are no White Mages, and also the Ice Cavern. I think you have Dagger in your party by then but no means of restoring MP, unless there is healing somewhere in the Ice Cavern. Pretty much not until Dali.
And then of course there is another big stretch where no one except Zidane can do any real damage WITHOUT using magic. (But you can buy or steal Tents, right?)
But I also know there are items you get that you can only use in battle which restore HP, I will make sure to use that against Amarant rather than an Elixir.
I might have to refer to my notes to know how to get the item for Zidane that enables Thievery. I remember how to get Frog Drop of course, and I think, was it a weapon at Terra that gives Freya Dragon Crest? I know those three I will want to make the final battles easier.
So, my second FFIX playthrough begins now. I can't promise I won't get annoyed or discouraged early in the game but I must remember it does get better. I might take it at a bit of a slower pace than the FFVII one depending on how much else I have to do after today, I have a movie I feel like rewatching, but I think I am at the point where I will have fun with a second FFIX playthrough.
