Aso, while we're on the topic of FFIX, Square Enix made this whole website dedicated to FFIX's 25th Anniversary! I wonder if it'll mean something big...

Now that it turns out the animated show's a sequel series, I dropped all hope for animated Kuja. But at least he got a plush!
Good art and im in the same boat with others not being interested in series, I feel like IX was fine the way it was. I don't believe it needs a sequel like others in the series did. I would enjoy a prequel though. Maybe a one shot manga or a little ova like the Pokemon series does once in awhile. Now for that 25th anniversary website...they better do a partnership with Coca Cola like they did in 2000! I want a special coke bottle!
It seems that there is a curse around Final Fantasy Sequels, whilst Remakes are perfectly okay?
Final Fantasy IV sequels were cut and paste, Final Fantasy VII sequels didn't fare so well, Final Fantasy X-2 despite being promising aged poorly, whilst X-2.5 and other installments just Sh*t on X-2, Final Fantasy XII Wings of the Revenant wasn't looked upon so well, and Final Fantasy XIII sequels are seen as divisive.
I just hope that I am wrong about this.
You forgot to mention XII had a sequel on the DS but i honestly can't blame you for not mentioning it. Not to go too off topic but i agree Square needs to let sequels go.
I'm actually playing FFXII Revenant Wings rn (actually, I've only had time to do the tutorial so far. But I can't wait to get to the rest of the game). I had already watched a playthrough of it before and overall seemed pretty fun and cool. All sequels did (I just haven't seen TAY and any related to spin-offs)
Idk, maybe it's me. I just don't really see what's the problem with the games lol
I have changed that comment @Vivibm2000, and kudos to you for reminding me about that 🌝🪽👍.
I actually enjoyed Final Fantasy X-2, and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII was one of my all time favourite Final Fantasy Games, even though I failed to play The Lost Episode.
I was looking forward to Final Fantasy V-2, Final Fantasy VI-2, Final Fantasy VIII-2, and Final Fantasy IX-2 which was discussed back in 2008 or 2009 according to an old news article I saw, though I didn't read it.
But what I really want to know @Vivibm2000 and @CorujinhaGamer26, is if there is an actual curse or not.
The Superman Franchise is cursed, due to the real acting crew suffering and dying in mysterious ways, and there are many other franchises that might be cursed.
Is this true for Final Fantasy sequels?
Who knows. Maybe.
Prequels seem to do fairly well. Look at Stranger of Paradise and Crisis Core.
Tbh, I think the FFXIII were somewhat doomed from the start, as the very game is, well... complicated. But the others I think it's actually mostly a console issue? Like, Dirge of Cerberus was only for Ps2, it never got ported anywhere else. I'm still super glad I own it and it's one of my top 1 games no doubt. FFXII Revenant Wings is DS, whose games from there aren't that popular as far as I know; only the two mainline ones, I believe, and that might be because those are Remakes. On that note, The After Years I think it's on both GBA and DS? Idk for sure, but many people probably barely heard of it (I know it took me a while to discover its existence), and if they played, they don't prounounce themselves much about it.
FFX-2 is the first and most popular and known one, but people don't like it and I'll never understand why, because apparently it was a huge success back in the day or something. I would say that selling it alongside FFX on more recent consoles is a smart strategy, though I wouldn't know for sure. Its system is one of my favorites ever and it just has an overall fun vibe. I really don't understand why people dislike it.
But yeah, for some of them I'd say it's a console and availability issue mostly. I could be wrong, however.
The After years is on psp and it used to be on the Wii till the shop went down way back when. I don't know about curse, i just feel like FF games should be only 1 game and that's it. But that's just me and my belief with RPGs in general, like i finished VI and VIII recently. Do i really need to know what happened with Squall and Crew? Im sure he and Rinoa are still together, im sure Seifer passed the seed exam ect. I just have a narrow and gatekeeper view on rpgs i must admit. Im afraid i can't give an unbiased answer. Apologies
Thank you both @Vivibm2000 and @CorujinhaGamer26 for both your intel and knowledge 🌝🪽👍.
What do you think?
