Had an epiphany just now and aether is the source of magic in ffXIV.

More like Mist in FFXII, when there is to much it will cause crazyness to few causes the Midgar effect with plantlife dying and an arid landscape

Okay, but in different media there are different sources that serve as the source of Magic, such as Mana. But can add Aether to FF14 in the Magic term page.

True, but i see mana an means to quantify the use of magic, as a gamemechanic. I think aether, mist and the crystals are more the terms for the narrative and the lore of stories.
