Final Fantasy VI is the best game of the SNES Final Fantasy Trilogy, since that game has such a unique and powerful story tied with the lore, whilst Terra Branford's Story makes Terra Branford herself such a unique character to uphold the legacy, the image, and the moral of Final Fantasy VI, as well as becoming the Face of the SNES Trilogy.
I really like Terra, and Lightning sure is famous, though her game is famous for all the wrong reasons (my Game Design teacher has brought it up more than once how bad the game is, so that says a lot), but I'll have to go with Tidus.
FFX was a turning point for the franchise, which was now entering Ps2 and introducing voice acting. That lead us to many iconic moments, namely the laughing scene, but Tidus himself is the embodiment of a new player, perfect for someone that's just starting and is as confused as he is in this new world they find themselves in. People easily overlook this, but the feeling of accomodation Tidus bring is always inside us, even if we never properly notice it. I have to choose him for this. No one else will give you this comfortable feeling as well as Tidus does, not even Terra that finds herself in a somewhat similar situation, in a way. This is why FFX is very recommended for new players to the franchise that are just getting started; Tidus will guide them through their journey as we players guide him through his and this connection will always remain, even if it starts fading a little over time. Besides, FFX, although a love or hate game, is still a pretty good game and it changed the franchise forever; I like to believe for good.
Also, for FFI, I highly believe the Black Mage is a bigger mascot than the Warrior, but ok. The whole NES triology is easily overlooked, the only thing that isn't as overlooked is the references to the black mage and white mage made throughout the rest of the franchise (namely those two, Red Mage and Thief as third in line)
Terra is great too, I also really love her, more than Tidus even, but FFX has more outside things than FFVI does, and Tidus and/or references to him have appeared more times throughout the franchise more than Terra. Both are memorable for multiple reasons, but people probably enter more easily in contact with FFX than FFVI (the Pixel Remaster does destroy this argument a bit, but still).
For Cloud, I can see many people voting this one because of popularity. Honestly, I find nothing of interesting in him, much like whatever is the antagonist of the game. But for best? With the other options? No way.
Lightning, it's the thing. She's cool, she's badass. Her game is not so much, or didn't do as well as her in terms of success. That does ruin it a bit, and although she has quite the spin-off appearances, she will give a much harsher accomodation than Tidus does, which doesn't sound much like an accomodation to start with when you phrase it like that. Also, you say "Iconic game" in the title; from FFXIII-FFXV triology, the iconic one is FFXIV for sure.
Nyx is a complicated case because the movies in general are a complicated case. Honestly, I'd say Kadaj was the mascot from the movies, he's the one in DFFOO, not Nyx, and with how much FFVII is milked it's not surprising. As for Nyx himself, he's not bad, but the movies are often forgotten (namely Spirits Within, but still) and barely talked about. Don't be surprised if someone doesn't know about him, which if he's a mascot, doesn't do justice to the title. Kadaj would fit better in those terms. And once more, the more iconic of the movies is Advent Children because it's FFVII, not Kingslaive (I do prefer Kingslaive and Spirits Within over Advent Children, but that's just me).
I did know about Black Mage, Red Mage, White Mage, Thief/Ninja, and Black Belt/Monk of Final Fantasy I, but since Warrior of Light is on the front cover of that game, and since Fighter was pictured as the First Character at the top of a Random Encounter Screen above Black Mage, then it made sense to choose Fighter, but with a Fighter skin for Warrior of Light in the Dissidia Series, then that is why I combined both together for the first option.
The Reason why I didn't choose Advent Children is because I had Cloud Strife for the Third Option, as well as Final Fantasy VII, so I didn't want to put Advent Children again because of having Two Cloud Strifes to choose from, let alone Two Final Fantasy VIIs, and Since I was focusing on Heroes instead of Villains for this topic, that is why I had completely forgotten about Kadaj.
The reason why I didn't put The Spirits Within, is because that film is Reviled, Unpopular, and Hated, with Hironobu Sakaguchi leaving SquareSoft in 2000 due to the bitter embarassment of Spirits Within.
I was going to put Noctis Lantern and Final Fantasy XV for the Fifth Option, but since I was going to put Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV for the Sixth Option, then I just didn't want to have Two Final Fantasy XVs to choose from, let alone not having Two Noctis Lanterns to choose from.
Thank You @CorujinhaGamer26 for your Knowledge and for your Wisdom 😇😎👍😉.
If we look at it as most important being the best, I give it to FF1. Pretty hard to beat the one that started it all and it's a solid game overall.
If we look at it as most popular being the best, it goes to FF7. It's a good game but severely overrated imo. I've said a few times my opinion about it and that hasn't changed. Good game but hogs the spotlight from other great games that deserve it.
If we look at it as the best game in the series, it's arguably FF9. This was the pinnacle of what the franchise was meant to be and was considered to be a love letter to the fans.
FF10 was good and is what I generally tell people just getting into the games to start with. Pretty much everything about it is solid. (It also has my favorite version of Bahamut so it gets bonus points from me there).
As far as mascots go, idk about game specific ones but Black Mage, Moogle and Chocobo are probably the most iconic characters in the franchise.
I know how Iconic Chocobo, Moogle, Cactuer, Tonberry, Black Mage, Bomb, and other Final Fantasy Creations are, but I was talking about the Humanoid Mascots of the front cover of each main Final Fantasy Game for my poll @Omega AK1, but Kudos for your Knowledge and for your Wisdom 😉😎👍😇.
