Bored at work. Came up with a prequel to ALL the Final Fantasy games.

Plain and simple.

I was bored.

I had an idea.

And I ran with it.

Basically, FFXIV and Stranger of Paradise: FF Origins have confirmed the fact that the FF Multiverse is connected; confirming Dissidia games as actual canon mini-events rather than just meta-narrative cross-overs.

So I figured, since the franchise is called Final Fantasy... what if we had a game that was called FIRST FANTASY ?

This idea is still a work-in-progress of mine.

But I figured that it would be an interesting idea. Especially if Square Enix were to do something like this, the reveal trailer for such a game would be pretty impressive.

Imagine for example seeing your typical game announcement trailer from Square Enix for a sci-fi fantasy game.

You are sitting there watching snippets of cinematics and gameplay merged together to get the crowd intrigued.

Near the end of the trailer the screen fades to black, the classic Final Fantasy prelude theme is playing, and two white F's appear on the screen.

But the prelude theme starts de-tuning to lower octaves and on the final note , the remainder of the title theme suddenly snaps into existence.

Imagine the subtle whiplash the crowd would get from the reveal of First Fantasy?

I remember some time ago someone brought up the idea of a Final Fantasy 0 (not Type-0. Essentially, a sort of prequel to all FF like you're suggesting). Of course, their ideas were...... Not to sound rude, but really out of line, if you ask me. Upon discussion, I eventually came up with the idea of you being in the Lufenians place and rule your own universe, in a somewhat Forge of Empires style of game, if you catch me. Considering the Lufenians simply grab whatever they want from the other games and transport it to the FFI world, I don't see why you couldn't have expeditions in these other worlds as you build you're own FFI world (sorta like that, I suppose). As for this idea of yours, it does sound interesting in its own right, but something about simply having the games connected, with no big explanation behind it, gives the series a mysterious feeling that I adore and I believe makes it unique, as it's like you'll be on the constant look out for references and possible connections, regardless of them being confirmed or not. Still, your idea does sound pretty solid, and something that could definitely bloom into quite the game if well made.

If I were to pitch this at Square Enix, I would need more than just the 2 hours I put into typing up that document.

This was just the prototype of the concept.

What do you think?
