If I recall the VA for Tidus said that scene was intended to be a cheesy laugh scene. Personally I like it just cause of the memes that spawned from it.

I don't see any problem with it. Plus, it's such a carefree moment and a very important one too. It really warms my heart, I absolutely love it and always look forward to it. Probably because I can't be that carefree or laugh that openly...... Must be the bigger reason....

I like it because Yuna teaches Tidus to laugh and become a ray of hope for Spira.
